Step 1

Power down your Asus ZenFone Max.
 
Step 2 (Asus ZenFone Max Rear Battery Cover)
 
Easily separate the rear cover from the Asus phone.
 
Step 3 (Asus ZenFone Max Exterior Midframe)
 
Slowly peel up the battery sticker.
 
Remove the following 12 Phillips screws.
 
Use the triangle opening tool to release the plastic clips securing the ZenFone Max midframe in place.
 
Step 4 (Asus ZenFone Max Loudspeaker, Vibrator and LED Flash)
 
The first components to surrender are the Asus ZenFone Max loudspeaker, vibrator, and LED flash.
 
Step 5 (Asus ZenFone Max Battery)
 
Detach the ZenFone Max battery cable from the motherboard.
 
Remove the following 6 Phillips screws.
 
And just like that, out comes the 5000 milliampere-hour (mAh) Asus ZenFone Max battery.
 
Step 6 (Asus ZenFone Max Motherboard)
 
Disconnect the bevy of cables from the ZenFone Max motherboard.
 
Remove the following 2 Phillips screws.
 
Lift the Asus motherboard up and disconnect the cable, then extract it from the phone.
 
Step 7 (Asus ZenFone Max Rear-Facing Camera and Front-Facing Camera)
 
Pop off the 13-megapixel Asus ZenFone Max rear-facing camera.
 
Release the ZIF connector and remove the 5-megapixel ZenFone Max front-facing selfie camera from the motherboard.
 
Step 8 (Asus ZenFone Max Earpiece Speaker and Daughterboard)
 
Pluck out the spring-contact-connected ZenFone Max earpiece speaker.
 
Detach the signal cable and interconnect cable from the daughterboard.
 
Remove the following 2 Phillips screws.
 
Spudge up the daughterboard. It includes the ZenFone Max’s micro-USB port.
 
Step 9 (Asus ZenFone Max Display Assembly)
 
Begin to free the Asus ZenFone Max display assembly by using the heat gun to warm up the adhesive.
 
With the precision knife create enough space to insert a triangle opening tool.
 
Use the triangle opening tool to attack the adhesive. Take your time and apply additional heat as needed.
 
Once you have sliced through the adhesive, be mindful of the display cable when decoupling the Asus ZenFone Max screen from the midframe.
